It has been months since Kanye’s infamous rant during his Saint Pablo Tour in which he calls out both Jay-Z and Beyoncé for not being there for him in his time of need. Time of need being his wife’s robbery in Paris. He even included that his children have never met the couple’s oldest child, Blue Ivy. Was it wrong for Kanye to bring the personal (and very private) issues between himself and the Carters out in public? Some may say yes, and some may even say no. But Jay-Z took his time to respond to Kanye and his antics until now and he had very choice words for the new-found foe.
During his first interview since the release of his 13th Studio album, “4:44”, Jay sat down with the Rap Radar podcast’s hosts Elliot Wilson and Brian “B. Dot” Miller and talked about everything from family, business and money phones. The most prominent subject of the 70-minute conversation was probably how he felt about Kanye speaking out about their issues, publicly. This was the first time that Jay had publicly acknowledged the comments and he wasn’t holding back. “Kanye is my little brother. He’s talked about me a hundred times. He even made a song called ‘Big Brother.’ We’ve gotten past bigger issues, but you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem.” Now, of course, we don’t know what the bigger issues were and we may never really know. But how bigger can the issues be than not caring about the welfare of your friend’s wife? He continues.. “You know it’s a problem because me and him would have been talked about it, been resolved our issues. And he knows crossed the line. He knows. And I know he knows. ‘Cause we’ve never let this much space go between one of our disagreements and we’ve had many. That’s part of who we are.” Now as I had stated before, maybe Kanye was wrong for publicly expressing his feelings for the situation at hand, but how long did the issues sit on pause before it manifested into one big giant Kanye Rant?
Kanye haven’t spoken about the comments that Jay- Z made during his interview, in fact, Kanye haven’t been speaking about much lately. With the release of his Yeezy Waverunner 700s and rumors of a possible collaboration with long-time friend and collaborator Kid Cudi, it appears that Kanye has his mind strictly on business. With NYFW less than 3 weeks, we can only expect the best from his fashion line, YEEZY during its 6th season. Recently London’s Design Museum announced Kanye West as a nominee for this year’s Designs of the year awards, for his Life Of Pablo Merchs.
We can only hope that the two can work things out and continue to make more music together, and even if they don’t can at least work things out for the sake of their legacies.
