Rapper 2 Chainz do not play when it comes down to his money or his brand, especially when someone else is making bank on it.
Multinational retail corporation Walmart is on the receiving end of 2 Chainz’ wrath after the retailer was caught selling the rapper’s products without his consent. The Atlanta rapper took to Instagram to blast the retailer in a screenshot of the product, stating:
“Oooh nooo someone please tell Walmart that they didn’t get permission to use this patent or likeness in anyway,” He started. “We use this sweater this time of the year to spread togetherness and also give back to those who are less fortunate or not able to provide for their families at the time. That being said it’s gone be a Jolly Holly Xmas #WALMARTGONEBUYMEAHOUSE #WALMARTGONEBUYMEACAR #Walmartgonegiveback2mycommunity #WALMARTTGONEMAKEMEASTAR. Gotta lil ring to it mite lay dat bihhh down later tonight when I get to the studio.”
It wasn’t long before Walmart responded to Chainz in the comment section of the post, refuting the claims. “These items were posted by third-party sellers in our online marketplace. We have zero tolerance for Intellectual Property Infringement and we’ve blocked these sellers from listing the items while we investigate further.”
2 Chainz launched his ugly ‘Dabbin’ Santa’ sweaters in 2015, with the proceeds going towards his T.R.U. Foundation. If you are interested in purchasing a ‘Dabbin’ Santa‘ sweater and helping with the cause, you can purchase one at https://www.2chainzshop.com.
