On Friday, Drake randomly (strategically) dropped the star-studded video and song, “Nice For What”. A seemingly women empowerment track featuring a sample from Lauryn Hill’s 1998 ‘X-Factor’. Although the song is catchy and sounds like something that will be played at all the BBQs and Skating rinks in summer 18′, the song just does nothing for me. However, I appreciate all of the beautiful women of Hollywood who volunteered their beauty and time for a Drake video. It is sincerely appreciated.
Here is a small list of all the women who appeared in the video: (In order of seen)
Olivia Wilde, Misty Copeland, Issa Rae, Rashida Jones, Jourdan Dunn, Tracee Ellis Ross, Tiffany Haddish, Yara Shahidi, Zoe Saldana, Elizabeth and Victoria Lejonhjärta, Letitia Wright, Bria Vinaite, Emma Roberts, Syd, and Michelle Rodriquez.
Directed by Karena Evans, the 22-year-old recipient of Canada’s Lipsett Award for her “innovative and unique approach to music video art,” also directed Drake’s music video for “God’s Plan.” She was also the first woman ever to received the prestigious award.
Again, I love the video, I love the message behind the song and video. Just not too crazy about the song, itself. However, like all Drake songs, it will grow on me in the next few weeks.
