On Wednesday (May 23) G.O.O.D. Music CEO Pusha T shares information on his new album set to be released on Friday.
Pusha T announced that the title of his third album has been changed from King Push to Daytona and will feature guest verses from Kanye West (“What Would Meek Do?”) and Rick Ross (“Hard Piano”). All seven songs on the album are produced singlehandedly by Kanye West.
“I changed the album title from ‘King Push’ to ‘DAYTONA’ because I felt it didn’t represent the overall message of this body of work,” Pusha tweeted. “’DAYTONA’ represents the fact that I have the luxury of time. That luxury only comes when u have a skill set that your confident in.”
Pusha T, DAYTONA tracklist:
- “If You Know You Know”
- “The Games We Play”
- “Hard Piano” ft. Rick Ross
- “Come Back Baby”
- “What Would Meek Do?” ft. Kanye West
Pusha T also revealed that the final master was only submitted yesterday, but Pusha was anything but worried. “This album is for my family…high taste level, luxury, drug raps fans. Literally, this is nothing more than the outcome of our musical therapy sessions,” Pusha T tweeted. “This is all happening in real time, you don’t have my art work because I don’t have my art work…the final master was turned in 2 hrs ago, no single (what are those?), I’m not interested in any of that…”
Kanye West has reportedly pushed back Pusha’s LP several times in order to get it right. “I done this album like three times,” Push said last September. “[Kanye] come in and pick all the beats and shit and then he’d scrap them and say, ‘I can do better.’ These past two months we’ve just been locking in… getting this album perfect for y’all.”
In Pusha T- related news, the Rapper launched his new merchandises available for pre-order on Wednesday (May 25). The capsule includes both short-sleeve and long-sleeve T-shirts, a hoodie and DAYTONA available on vinyl and CD. The merchandise, which comes with a digital download of the album, was in turn designed by Cali Thornhill DeWitt, a long-time collaborator of Kanye’s.
