Singer/Songwriter Demi Lovato has always been both candid and open with her fans about her love life and her personal demons including her past drug use. In her latest single, “Sober“, Lovato spared no details with the recent revelations of relapsing after six years of sobriety.

It comes as no surprise that fans of the singer would be shocked over the lyrics since Lovato spoke out about how she felt she’d overcome her addiction to alcohol completely this year during an appearance on Dr. Phil. “I feel like I’ve conquered my addiction and alcoholism in a way I don’t think about it anymore.

Lovato shared a video of an emotional performance of the song, in Lisbon, Portugal.  During the performance, Lovato reveals she that she broke her sobriety and apologizes to both her parents and fans. “Tonight I took the stage, a new person with a new life,” she captioned the post. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. It will never be forgotten.”
