During the BET awards, this Sunday (June 24) several websites reported Childish Gambino allegedly stealing the content and tone of his single “This Is America” from New Jersey-based rapper Jase Harley’s track “American Pharaoh.” However, Gambino’s team aren’t happy about the claims and has since it very clear that the rapper has not stolen or ever were inspired by the rapper when he created the track.
Fam Rothstein, one half of Gambino’s management team Wolf + Rothstein and the music supervisor for ‘Atlanta’ took to Twitter to publicly and directly dismiss the theft claims. In the now-deleted tweet, Rothstein angrily tweeted that “This is America” is actually three years old and they have the files to prove it.
the Internet is a place of no consequences. I hate that Toronto Akademiks/every white blogger can say something as gospel and y’all take it. this song is 3 yrs old, and we have pro tools files to prove it. but fuck you and your moms, and your future fetuses. stay blessed. https://t.co/z7AyyWgrOz

Although Harley’s song was released in 2016, the video hasn’t received much attention only gaining 4,000 views on YouTube at the time of the claims. The video has since earned almost 700,000 views.
