Speaking your goals and dreams into existence has become increasingly popular as the Law of Attraction and the newly popularized Law of Assumption become more prevalent.
Back in January, Twitter shared a thread of movie stars, public figures, athletes, and musicians’ past tweets of goals and dreams that they set for themselves. These decade-old tweets illustrate the power of celebrities who have tweeted their dreams into reality.
The following are 7 Black celebrities who have not only spoken their reality into existence but also exceeded their own expectations.
One fateful April day in 2009, a rapper in Fayetteville, North Carolina, tweeted his gratitude to get 502 followers on his Twitter account. The 24-year-old North Carolina rapper would release a mixtape two months later, “The Warm Up,” that would go double platinum on DatPiff.
Yo I got 502 Followers! Probably not a lot for most of these other rappers, but I am thankful for each person who hit that Follow.— J. Cole (@JColeNC) April 3, 2009
With over 14 million followers, the Grammy-award winner’s 13-year-old tweet has aged very well. With humility for the fans of his music at the time, J. Cole has since gained millions of listeners as proven by his Spotify account.
Before he became one of the biggest rappers of the 21st century, Travis Scott was an up-and-coming artist from Houston, Texas. However, Travis claimed in a 2011 tweet that he would become somebody one day.
Travis Scott is certainly somebody nearly ten years later as he sold over 45 million certified records in the United States alone. In addition, Scott became the first artist on the Hot 100 to debut three songs at number one in less than a year in September 2020.
Tyler, the Creator
Tyler, the Creator, is a straightforward artist who has always shared his ideas and dreams without hesitation. When Tyler was only 19-years-old, he tweeted that he would win his first Grammy one day.
Im going to get a grammy. Watch.— Tyler, The Creator (@tylerthecreator) October 10, 2010
Tyler won his first Grammy a decade later with his fifth album, IGOR, in 2020. IGOR, Tyler’s fifth studio album, was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2021. Tyler, the Creator, continues to be one of the most influential artists of our generation.
Big Sean the Don has been one of the most vocal rappers who has spoken about the power of speaking things into existence, the benefits of meditation, and the importance of oneness. Consequently, it is not surprising that Big Sean wrote himself a $5 million check in the fifth grade.
I wrote myself a million dollar check in 5th grade, I put it on the wall and promised it’d be this way!— Sean Don (@BigSean) May 11, 2015
In October 2017, a 19-year-old Chicago-based rapper tweeted about his desire to record a collab tape with one of his favorite rappers. Jarad Higgins, better known as Juice Wrld, tweeted that he wanted a collab mixtape with Atlanta rapper, Future.
In a matter of one year, Juice Wrld and Future released their collaborative mixtape, “Future & Juice WRLD Presents… WRLD ON DRUGS,” on October 19, 2018. The 16-track EP debuted at #2 on the US Billboard Hot 200. Juice Wrld would become a household name after the release of his hit single, “Lucid Dreams,” which became his first top 10 single after four weeks on the charts. A fatal overdose will claim the life of Juice Wrld in December 2019.
Kid Cudi, already a well-known musician in 2013, wanted the world to acknowledge him as a skilled actor. The rising actor played a few Movies and TV roles, including Domingo Dean in the HBO series “How to Make It in America,” when he tweeted that he wanted to focus on acting and shoot more movies.
Also next year I wanna focus on acting. Shoot a couple moovees— The Chosen One : I 💖 YOU FRESHIE 4EVER (@KidCudi) August 23, 2013
The rapper and actor have certainly put the pedal to the metal. Nine years after posting this tweet, Kid Cudi has appeared in sixteen movies, including 2021’s “Don’t Look Up” and the upcoming horror movie “X,” scheduled to release in March 2022. Additionally, in November 2020, Kid Cudi announced the launch of his production and music management company, Mad Solar Productions. Currently, the company has produced several movies, including his animated Netflix series “Entergalactic,” scheduled for release in 2022.
Kanye West is perhaps the most successful manifesting artist of today. From manifesting his marriage to Kim Kardashian-West to his successful clothing line and sneaker, Yeezy, Kanye is the epitome of ‘Speaking things into existence.’ In a now-deleted from 2016, Kanye tweeted his intentions to ‘steal’ Demna Gvasalia from Balenciaga.
Gvasalia was part of Kanye’s creative team for Yeezy Season 1 in 2015, during which time he became close with Kanye. Six years after Kanye’s first tweet, Kanye and Gvasalia manifested their bromance into a physical form with “YEEZY GAP Engineered By Balenciaga.” There is no official release date for the collaboration — but what we do know is what Kanye seeks, he shall find.
Each of the celebrities aforementioned believed they were capable of seeing their dreams come true, whether it was winning a Grammy that seemed unattainable or tweeting for only 500 followers. If you believe it is possible, then anything is possible, regardless of whether you wish to appear on a movie set with Kid Cudi or be produced by Kanye West. It only takes one tweet.
